Anyone have any ideas about air conditioning a John Deere 4100 tractor. Have a nice 4100 with HST, FEL, mid mount 60" mower, and 4' rotary cutter. Has about 350 hrs on engine. Love the tractor - have been able to do everything I wanted to with it. Would like to be cooler in summer and get out of the grass & pollen due to chronic sinus problems. Have found one dealer (Key Dollar) that sells a cab with or without ac, but have been told by a JD dealer that it might not seal up enough to keep out the dust, etc. Would be willing to sell my equip & buy tractor
with cab & ac. Any Ideas?

Is the cab a hardside type with doors that seal with a car door type weather strip or canvas sides with canvas doors that kind of shut like on the old jeeps? A steel cab would be lots easier to seal than a canvas one. I think your biggest concern should be horsepower, a compressor, elecric fan, and whatever else consumes energy with enough capacity to keep you cool in the cab will use nearly half your available horsepower. I'm not trying to be Mr. Gloom and Doom, but another factor to contend with is all the heat that will be put inside the cab by the transmission, rearend housings, hyd. lines that will have to be taken out thru the AC system. Hope this helps, Frank. ....

I have the same concers about power. That is why I might sell or trade my 4100, but I hate to do it because it is just the right size and very economical to operate.
Thanks for the replys!

I haven't heard about the new 20 series. I do know JD has already made a 4320,4520 and a 4620. Maybe they'll call them the 15 series? ....
